Ottawa’s oldest surviving independent cinema follows example of Roger Greenberg and Ottawa Sports and Entertainment Group (OSEG) and requests a 30-year cinema monopoly.

In an interview this morning, Ottawa Sports and Entertainment Group (OSEG) member Roger Greenberg spoke eloquently about the potential impact of unfairly subsidized competition on his business.

Late on Friday afternoon, after most public delegations had presented, the only outstanding official document of the Lansdowne Partnership Plan (“Document 27”) was released. It dealt with much of the subjects that have come under the scrutiny by Councillors, interested heritage bodies and the public at large.

It proposes that most of the outstanding and contentious issues be deferred until “Stage 1” that will come before Council on November 24th 2010. It also deferred a key condition that OSEG and Staff were to fulfill to allow the June 28th vote to go forward. The comprehensive master site plan and an independent third party peer review of that plan are still missing. That is now not being done until November 24th.

On June 25th 2010 after public delegations had finished, City Staff released Document 27 of the Lansdowne Partnership Plan in advance of the June 28th vote by Council.

Document 27 defers the contentious and outstanding elements required for the June 28th vote by Council to “Stage 1” approvals. In the document it notes, “The first stage approval will provide a comprehensive master site plan that will reflect key plan refinements to achieve integration and will set out associated conditions that would be the basis for more detailed design development.”
